Can a physical injury cause fibromyalgia ?
An injury or trauma, particularly in the upper spinal region, may trigger the development of fibromyalgia in some people. This form of fibromyalgia is sometimes called post-traumatic fibromyalgia, although some physicians do not distinguish between general fibromyalgia and fibromyalgia that can be linked to a specific physical trauma. However, any injury may disrupt proper functioning of the central nervous system, which may trigger fibromyalgia in some people, especially those with a family history of this condition.
