Getting a Disability Lawyer in Washington

Nearly 60 percent of all social security disability and SSI disability claims are denied in the state of Washington (source: Office of Disability Programs). Even worse, 84.9 percent of all first appeals (known as reviews or reconsiderations) are also denied in Washington.

Unfortunately, if your disability claim is denied at both these levels, your only choices will be to 1. give up on your disability claim, 2. file a brand new claim, or 3. request a disability hearing.

As to the first option, you should, of course, never give up on your claim. Regarding the second option, in the vast majority of cases, a disability claimant should not file a brand new claim but instead should file an appeal. And, finally, regarding option three, a claimant who finds it necessary to request a disability hearing should consult with an experienced disability lawyer.

There are a number of advantages to representation at the hearing level. However, chief among them is the fact that a disability lawyer will be able to present a sound and logical argument as to why your claim should be approved. In other words, a disability lawyer will read your file, determine the basis for your prior denials, gather your most recent medical evidence, and argue to the judge hearing your case exactly why it is that your claim meets the social security administration's criterial for approval.
