What is the difference between chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and fibromyalgia ?
A recent study from the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) suggests that fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) may overlap in the same person, and some physicians even think that chronic fatigue syndrome is not a separate disorder, but a symptom of fibromyalgia. Both FMS and CFS are associated with chronic fatigue that seems to increase after periods of high stress or physical exertion.
Some differences in the condition may exist. Chronic fatigue syndrome is usually associated with fever and swollen lymph nodes, and CFS patients don’t usually have prominent tender points or trigger points of pain.
